How to use Insights to view and share performance metrics

Updated over a week ago

The Insights product within your Denim platform account is where you will go to view the performance of campaigns that have run. This article describes when and how to interact with the Insights product.

Before we jump in, let's go over a few definitions:

  • Reach: the amount of people who saw the ad.

  • Total Actions: based on the goal of the campaign, this number is the measurement of measurable outcomes that match the goal of the campaign. We'll have more on this in a dedicated section later in this article.

  • Cost Per Click (CPC): the cost associated with each click on an ad presented to them that was powered by the Denim platform.

  • CPM: the cost per 1,000 impressions of an ad powered by the Denim platform.

  • Status: displays the current state the campaign is in. More on this below as well.

To view Insights of a campaign that is currently running, head over to the Campaigns product, and click on the name of the campaign you want to view Insights for.

To view Insights of a campaign that has finished running, head over to the Insights product and click on the name of the campaign you want to view Insights for.

To view advanced performance metrics for a specific campaign, click on the campaign name.

After you click on the campaign name, you will see a screen for Campaign Details.

In the dotted line box you will see basic information for the campaign, for historical purposes, such as Creative Format, Audience used, Group used, Placement, Start/End Date, Media Spend, Budget, and Objective.

Beneath that, in three boxes, you will find aggregated campaign statistics: Total Reach, Total Actions, and Average Cost Per Click. Over time, you will find yourself using these billboard metrics to compare and contrast campaigns in an effort to continually improve your advertising efforts.

Beneath that, you will find a table displaying individual performance for each representative the campaign advertised on behalf of: Reach, CPM, CPC, and Status.

Share Insights

Share Insights allows you to share campaign performance metrics with your representatives directly. By using Share Insights, the Denim platform will send an email to each representative you would like to share campaign insights with. The email will come from noreply@denimsocial.com and will be distributed to the email address associated with each User in their User Profile. There are two ways to share campaign insights:

  1. If you would like to share campaign insights with some, but not all of your representatives, you will find a Share Insights button on the right side of each row in the bottom table. Click Share Insights for each representative you would like to share campaign insights with.

  2. If you would like to share campaign insights with all representatives the campaign ran for, you can accomplish this by clicking Actions in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Once you've clicked Actions, click Share. This will share campaign insights with all Users in your campaign.

Actions Menu

The Actions menu will allow you to open a preview of what the ad was, displays a current status of the campaign (in an ad that hasn't yet started running, you have the ability to Activate the ad as well), allows you to share campaign insights (which we previously discussed), and allows you to delete the campaign as well.

You will only be able to delete the campaign if it has not started delivering. Delete a campaign if you have created an ad that you do not intend to "activate" for any reason. This will remove it from your Denim platform account.

Total Actions Details

Status Details:

Here is a list of the different statuses you may see for campaign in your Denim platform account, as well as what they mean:

  • Pending: the campaign has been created, and it is pending your approval.

  • Active: the campaign is currently running on the various placements you selected during the campaign creation process.

  • Testing: the campaign is a Smart Campaign, and it is in the optimization period, where the Denim platform is running equal numbers of the A and the B campaign to try to determine a winner.

  • ActiveReallocated: the campaign is a Smart Campaign, the optimization period has concluded, and the Denim platform has determined a winner for each local representative the campaign is running on behalf of.

  • Completed: the campaign has completed its run and is no longer running.

  • Error: there was an error creating the campaign. If you see a status of 'error' please reach out to the Denim team using our in-app chat. We're likely already on the case, but we will work with you to determine the error and fix it!
