Custom Audiences in the Denim platform are used to target consumers based on your own first-party data. In a Custom Audience, Denim platform customers will upload a .csv file to their Denim platform account containing exactly the people they want ads to be delivered to.

If you're curious about the security of providing Denim with a .csv containing private information, check out this article.

Here's a step-by-step guide to creating a Custom Audience.

Click on Audiences on the left-hand rail, and then click Create Audience.

Select "Custom Audience" from the list of options.

Give your Custom Audience a name, and select the .csv to upload from your computer.

The Denim platform uses logic to suggest what we believe each column in the .csv represents. Go through each field and instruct the Denim platform what each column represents. You may choose not to upload certain columns if you desire.

Acceptable fields to import for a Custom Audience:

  • Email address (required, up to 3 email addresses allowed)

  • Phone number (up to 3 allowed)

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Zip/postal code

  • City

  • State

  • Country

  • Gender

When you're satisfied and ready to hash the file and have your Custom Audience created, click "Next."

Certify where the data came from: first-party, third-party, or both. Then, accept the Custom Audiences Terms.

Done! The Custom Audience has been hashed and sent to Facebook to match to existing users' hashed ID's.

A Custom Audience takes approximately 6 hours to create, so come back later to check the status of the Custom Audience. After matches are determined, it will be available for use in a Denim-powered Campaign.
