The Media Library is a powerful tool for administrators in the Denim Social platform that allows you to store images and video within the platform, as well as sharing these media files with your intermediaries.

To access the Media Library click on Publishing > Media Library in the left side navigation.

The Media Library is split into two parts. One called "My Media" and another called "Shared with me". My Media is your own private Media Library. You are the only user able to see the contents inside My Media, unless you specifically choose to share a folder with another user or user group.

Uploading

There are two main ways to upload an image or video to the Media Library

  1. Click on the "Upload Media" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Then select the files you want to upload from your local computer.

  2. From your local computer, select the files you want to upload, then drag and drop them into the Media Library screen. The files you dropped will then automatically get uploaded.

You can upload up to 10 files at a time.

Choose How to View Your Media

In the Media Library you can choose between two different views, a list view and a grid view. To switch between the views, click the View icon, on the right side of the Media Library.

Working With Media

As you start uploading images and video you can interact with these files in multiple ways. These interactions are called "Actions". To access what actions you can take with a file either select it by clicking the file or click on the actions icon, represented by three dots, to the far right of the file. In addition to selecting one file, you can also bulk select files by using the checkbox to the far left of a file.

Example of selecting a file

Selecting a file will show you common actions, as well as opening the file details on the right side of the screen.

Example of clicking the actions icon

Clicking the actions icon will show you a list of all actions.

Example of bulk selecting

If you select multiple files, you will get a choice of relevant bulk-actions.

Edit Images

One of the most powerful tools within the Media Library is the ability to edit images within the Denim Social Platform. This will allow you to quickly crop and adjust an image to fit the Social Network of your choice, add captions, change colors, and much more!

Organizing

Organizing your media is an important part of the Media Library. The primary way you organize files is by creating folders. You do this by selecing the button "Create Folder" in the upper right hand corner of the screen. To open a folder you created, select the folder or use the action icon to the right of the folder and select "View"

Once a folder is created, you can choose to upload media directly to that folder, or move existing files into the folder. You can also create additional folders inside a folder.

Sharing Media Folders with Others

As an administrator with the "Media: Manage" permission enabled, you can give others access to a folder you have created. To do this, select the folder you want to share with someone and select the button "Manage Access" on the right side of the screen, the Manage Access button above the folders, or the actions icon. If an intermediary wants to view folders shared with them, they will need to select "Shared with Me" from the Media Library top menu.

When managing access to a shared folder you can either share access with specific users / user groups or you can share with all users.

To share a folder with some, but not all users, Select the "Specific users / user groups radio button, then "Grant Access".

You can select both user groups and individual users. You also have an option to enable an email notification so users will receive a notification if they have been granted access to this folder.

A small icon of a person on a folder will indicate that this folder has been shared.

If you wish to remove a user group or user from a folder you have shared, simply select the folder, press "Manage Access" and select the button "Remove" for each user group or user you want to remove access for.

Sharing Media Folder with All Users

Another option you have is sharing a media folder with "All Users. To share with all users, select the "All Users" Radio button. This will share with all current and new users. If you add a new user to the system after you have shared the folder, they will have access to the shared folder as well.

Viewing shared media

Another administrator may choose to share media with you. To view media that has been shared with you, click the button "Shared with me". As a an administrator you also have access to make changes to any media that has been shared with you, like renaming files, deleting files, creating new folders etc.
