Campaign Building Guide

Step by Step process of building your first campaign after adding users, building audiences, and uploading assets,

Updated over a week ago

This article is designed to walk you through how to create your very first Denim-powered ad campaign.

  1. Click 'Campaigns' on the left-hand rail, then click the orange 'Create Campaign' button.

2. Indicate which type of campaign you'd like to build; Brand Campaign vs. Local Campaign.

  • Brand Campaign: advertising on behalf of a brand page rather than Facebook pages for individual representatives

  • Local Campaign: advertising on behalf of your representatives in their local markets, at scale (most common). For your first campaign, we recommend advertising on behalf of your local representatives.

3. Indicate whether you'd like to make your campaign a Smart Campaign.

If you're not sure, here's an article about the difference between standard and smart campaigns.

  • Smart Campaign = Denim-powered A/B or split test, testing against either Audience or Creative (while holding the other constant).

    • required to designate an optimization period (how long you would like Denim to test both the A and B campaigns before declaring a winner) and

    • required to supply either two different audiences or two different creatives, depending on your test variable.

4. Fill out Campaign Info.

Designate the following:

  • Name of the campaign - this name does flow into Meta reporting and also any other integrations you may have to collect leads (Total Expert, etc.), so ensure it is descriptive

  • Goal of the campaign - your goal will determine how and where the ad is displayed. Ensure it is aligned with the overall campaign objectives

  • Ad Placement - where do you want the ad to show up?

  • Budget - check out this article to understand budget vs. ad spend. Ensure that your payment threshold in your ads manager aligns with how you want to be invoiced by Meta.

  • Campaign duration

5. Group Selection

Indicate the Group of Users you would like to launch this ad on behalf of.

6. Audience Selection

Indicate the Audience of consumers to target for this campaign

7. Ad Builder

  • Select the style (single image, multi image, or video)

  • Select the creative assets (images or videos) to use for the campaign

  • Supply the copy under Text, Headline, and Description. (pay attention to the character count)

  • Display Link: This must be the same domain name as the ad destination url

  • Denim Pages: if Denim Pages is not being used, the ad destination is pulling from the user/brand profile(s). if Denim Pages IS being used, it's going to auto generate the appropriate link for that page for each user respectively (behind the scenes)

  • Make sure to preview (top right hand corner) the ad before moving to the next step!

8. Campaign Summary

Confirm all details, including estimated cost, and click 'Confirm' in the lower right-hand corner to complete the campaign creation process.

9. Almost done!

If you've reached this step, you have successfully created your first Denim-powered campaign. The campaign details have been distributed to Facebook and are now in their launch queue where the ad enters their approval process. If you are also an Admin on the Facebook Ad Account, you will receive notifications from Facebook regarding the approval status of the campaign.

Don't stop here, though!

10. Activate Campaign

When you create an ad campaign in the Denim platform, it is launched in a "paused," or "pending" state. The last thing you'll need to do is "activate" the campaign.

  • Click Campaigns

  • Click on the name of the campaign you just launched to open Campaign Details

  • Click Actions in the upper right-hand corner

  • Click Activate. Then you have officially "activated" the campaign and it'll go live on the networks

Congratulations! You've now completed the campaign creation process for your first Denim-powered ad! Your campaign will start delivering on midnight of the date you indicated as the start date, and will end at 11:59pm on the date you indicated to end the campaign.
