This article is designed to walk you through how to create your very first Denim-powered ad campaign. Exciting!

Before we get to the really exciting stuff, let's double-check a few pre-requisites to creating your first campaign.

  1. Have you supplied a form of payment to Facebook for media spend?

  2. Have you loaded your creative assets (images and/or videos)?

  3. Have you created your Groups?

  4. Have you created your Audiences?

  5. Have compliance reviews that are necessary been previously completed?

  6. Is the Ad Destination URL for each User in the Group of Users you will launch the campaign on behalf of up to date?

If you answered 'yes' to all of the above, you're good to go! 

Moving along, let's walk through a step-by-step example of building a campaign in the Denim platform.

Click 'Campaigns' on the left-hand rail, then click the orange 'Create Campaign' button.

Indicate which type of campaign you'd like to build; Brand Campaign vs. Campaign.

  • Brand Campaign: advertising on behalf of a brand page rather than Facebook pages for individual representatives

  • Campaign: advertising on behalf of the Facebook pages of your representatives in their local markets, at scale (most common). For your first campaign, we recommend advertising on behalf of your local representatives.

Indicate whether you'd like to make your campaign a Smart Campaign. If you're not sure, here's an article about the difference between standard and smart campaigns. In a Smart Campaign, you will be conducting a Denim-powered A/B or split test, testing against either Audience or Creative (while holding the other constant). In a Smart Campaign, you will be required to designate an optimization period (how long you would like Denim to test both the A and B campaigns before declaring a winner) and supply either two different audiences or two different creatives, depending on your test variable. Denim suggests constructing a standard campaign for your first campaign launch. Campaign Info. Designate the following:

Group. Indicate the Group of Users you would like to launch this ad on behalf of.

Audience. Indicate the Audience of consumers to target for this campaign

Ad Builder. Select the style (single image, multi image, or video), select the creative assets (images or videos) to use for the campaign, and supply the written verbiage. Make sure to preview the ad before moving to the next step!

Confirm all details, including estimated cost, and click 'Confirm' in the lower right-hand corner to complete the campaign creation process.

Success! If you've reached this step, you have successfully created your first Denim-powered campaign. The campaign details have been distributed to Facebook and are now in their launch queue where the ad enters their approval process. If you are also an Admin on the Facebook Ad Account, you will receive notifications from Facebook regarding the approval status of the campaign.

Don't stop here, though!

When you create an ad campaign in the Denim platform, it is launched in a "paused," or "pending" state. The last thing you'll need to do is "activate" the campaign. You can do this by going back into the Campaigns product, and click on the name of the campaign you just launched. This takes you to Campaign Details, where you will "activate" the campaign. When you get to the Campaign Detail for the campaign you just launched, click Actions in the upper right-hand corner, and click Activate.

Congratulations! You've now completed the campaign creation process for your first Denim-powered ad! Your campaign will start delivering on midnight of the date you indicated as the start date, and will end at 11:59pm on the date you indicated to end the campaign.
